mindFULLness…

For those who don’t know, this image is of Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh.    One of the best known and most respected Zen masters in the world today, poet, and peace and human rights activist, Thich Nhat Hanh has led an extraordinary life.

And my life is among the millions his has impacted.  One thing Thay (as his followers call him) changed in my life is my computer.  Like many, I spend mannnnnnnnnnnny hours online.  And to be completely frank, some of those hours are completely mindLESS.

Because of Thay’s focus on mindFULLness, I have a simple chime program running on my pc. Each time it rings randomly throughout the day, I stop and ask myself, “Am I doing what I want to be doing that this very moment?”

Sometimes I am.

Sometimes I’m not.

I get to choose.

I get to change.

Or not.

I like that part, best.

What helps you pay closer attention?

ps… you can find out more about Thich Naht Hanh here.
