week #10 in an experimental year…

One of my rituals for each new year is to choose a word for the coming year.  My word for 2011 is EXPERIMENT. To support my EXPERIMENTAL focus, I commit to post the results of a new experiment each Sunday of this year.

I got a new pedometer this year.  I’ve been pretty good about wearing it when I’m out and about, especially during my walks.

It was kind of bumming me out though.  It’s been WEEKS and I’ve yet to reach that longed-for 10,000 steps a day thing.   One day I DID reach 8,562.  Not bad, but not 10,000.

So this week I (in addition to recalibrating my pedometer – according to the instructions ~ ugh) I wore it every moment I was out of bed.

Still haven’t reached 10,000, but am a LOT closer.  I’m not averaging more than 8,000 steps a day and crossed the 9,800 mark one day.   So at least I know it’s possible.   I also know this is something  to which I need to pay attention.

Are any of you out there counting your steps?

IF so, along with parking further away from the doors of stores, what tips do you have for me?

MANY thanks, in advance!
