One of my rituals for each new year is to choose a word to influence me for the year. My word for 2011 is EXPERIMENT. To support my EXPERIMENTAL focus, I commit to post the results of a new experiment each Sunday of this year.
Sarah McPherson inspired this week’s experiment. Last week I got a simple note from her that meant more to me than she’ll ever know. Thanks (again), Sarah.
So I wrote and mailed a letter every day this week (I mailed Sunday’s on Monday :)).
The people I wrote are people with whom I haven’t been in touch for years. They’re people who’ve had a significant impact on my life. Some are people with whom I could have connected via e-mail. Some are not.
None of the letters were long. They simply told these folk I love & treasure them and how they’d shifted my life for the better.
I haven’t heard back from any of these folk. And that’s not the point.
I KNOW they appreciated getting a real letter. I know I do.
I offer no major revelations or promises to write & mail a letter every day for the rest of my life. I will write more letters though. I may even write some and not mail them. Hmmmm… I think I see another experiment in the making here. 😉
How do you feel when you get a letter?
When was the last time you wrote one?
When will be the next?
