week #26 in an experimental year…

One of my rituals for each new year is to choose a word to influence me for the year. My word for 2011 is EXPERIMENT. To support my EXPERIMENTAL focus, I commit to post the results of a new experiment each Sunday of this year.

I bet you can guess how I experimented this week.

Right you are – no chocolate for me!

And let me tell ya, it wasn’t pretty.

I had a feeling it would be tough, but wasn’t prepared for how tough.  Now don’t get me wrong.  It’s not like I eat pounds of chocolate every day.  I do eat at least one square daily though.  The rush of caffeine I get from a bite of really good chocolate between 3-4pm each day is one of my favorite means of managing the MS in my body.  No, really – it helps a lot.

Here’s what I learned:

WHAT WAS I THINKING?  Stop that!

So I have – never to try it again.  Whew.

What’s your favorite chocolate?

  1. my favorite chocolate – dark chocolate peanut M&M’s! yum… or my favorite ‘chocolate’ is reading your blog. do not think I could ever give that up.
    peace, Carrie

  2. Dark chocolate, a Hershey’s kiss a day & a dark chocolate covered Milky Way, occasionally. Reese’s peanut butter cups are good for energy!

Best rationalizing I have EVER seen! And I believe you!
I like chocolate with toffee in it, especially Klondike bars.

  4. My favorite chocolate is anything chocolate!!!! If I have to narrow it down to only one favorite, it would be Ferrar-Roche hazelnut chocolate balls!

  5. And oh yeah….any treatment that helps you make it through a day should never be messed with in my opinion!!! 🙂

  6. Our friend, Teresa, turned me on to something that satisfies the chocolate craving AND appears to be healthy for you—-Ovaltine! My chocolate cravings are at night, so a little “nightcap” of Ovaltine (hot in the winter and cold in the summer), full of vitamins & good stuff (read the label) sends me to bed feeling righteously comforted! (Unlike the feeling of guiltily lying there after devouring an entire large Toblerone bar—something I have done more than once!) ):

  7. Carrie, awwwwwwwwwwwwww thanks! and YAY on the M&Ms!

Lois, GREAT tips! was sooooooooo relieved to see some milk choc in the mix there at the end ~ whew…

amma, yep, i’m right there with The Best of the rationalizistas! 😉 love those Klondike bars 2!

Judi, yep, i used to have quite a collection of those little foil thingys. thanks thanks for the affirmations…

ML, yup, that’s one wise chick/our pal T. love that Ovaltine & Toblerone 2
