One of my rituals for each new year is to choose a word to influence me for the year. My word for 2011 is EXPERIMENT. To support my EXPERIMENTAL focus, I commit to post the results of a new experiment each Sunday of this year.
This has been my favorite experiment so far! My sister, Mari, turned 65 this past Thursday. She doesn’t mind me telling you that.
She ‘celebrated’ this landmark birthday receiving a blood transfusion, after three consecutive days of chemo.
I call this week’s experiment 65 cards. MANY of our friends and family members joined in the mission of making sure Mari received at least 65 birthday cards this week.
As of this bright Sunday morning, she’s received 93! LOUD and grateful cheers from Mari (and Tika, the Wonder-Westie) to everyone who participated!
If you’re also fighting cancer or love someone who’s fighting cancer ~ we’d love to hear how YOU celebrate birthdays and life.
What a beautiful smile Mari has….must run in the family. Love to you LIsa… I think about you often.
My Dear Lisa,
What a special person and sister you are to Mari!! I am so glad that you let me know of this in order to inform others of your wonderful experiment!! I love your sister as my own and do wish that I could have been there as she received these cards. Was so very greatful that I did have the 2 week visit with Joe and Mari earlier. Love to you and God Bless, Annette
WoW – could you and Mari have smiles that are any more identical?!?!? 🙂 Love, love, love that Mari got so many “hugs from afar” for Her Special Day. Much love to you both…and strength!
YAY!!!!!
what an awesome idea and gift!
really helps remind us all that people love all the time whether it’s someone they don’t know, a freind, or family
so much love to you and mari!
What a great response! It’s a tribute to the love everyone has for you, Lisa, and also your sister. Although I do not know Mari, I could tell she is your sister in the photo – she has the same sweet, pure smile you have! Our prayers are with you always.
