heroes…

I use the word HERO with care.

My heroes are people who help me make HUGE shifts in how I live my life.   Michael J Fox is a hero of mine.   So is Pam Corwin.   So are two fellow Lake Waccamaw residents – Marjorie Council and Betty Timberlake (who don’t have online presences, but have PROFOUND real world presences).  I have many heroes, but I am picky.

My latest hero is Gabby Giffords.  She’s the real deal.  She not only gets what’s important, she’s LIVING what’s important.

Yep, she’s the real deal.

Who are some of your heroes?

  1. Thich Nhat Hanh — His ability to maintain a radiantly cheerful presence and a peaceful, loving attitude despite coming to adulthood in a period of turmoil, loss, and ugly violence in his homeland deeply moves me. I greatly admire and hope to be able in some small way to follow the example set by him and by several other people I’ve known who experience the difficulties of life without closing their eyes, but also without losing their cheerfulness and ability to radiate goodness and loving-kindness to others around them.

  2. YOU! For over 40 years, it has been and will always be you! Why are you my hero? You are grace under fire! You always have a smile and kind words for everyone you meet. You LIVE with MS. You teach me that no matter what, it’s about living. When I think something is the end of the world to me, you gently remind me that it really isn’t the end of the world, just a bad time. You make me laugh. You always build me up and never tear me down. You won’t let me leave the house if that outfit REALLY doesn’t look good on me. Most of all, you are my hero because you always give me LOVE, PEACE & HOPE!

  3. Penny, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh TNH ~ YES! just thinking of him makes me smile down to my toenails.

Rox, a book by YOU is something for which i’d be THRILLED to take The Blame 🙂

    Linda, rightbackatchababy.
