One of my rituals for each new year is to choose a word to influence me for the year. My word for 2011 is EXPERIMENT. To support my EXPERIMENTAL focus, I commit to post the results of a new experiment each Sunday of this year.
This week I’m asking for help. More specifically, I’m asking for help with this blog. I have two more weeks of experiments. Although I have two experiments in mind, I’m turning to YOU.
What experiment would you like to see me try in these last two weeks? I won’t promise to try them all. What I will promise is that if you suggest something that really grabs me ~ I’ll do it, report on it AND give you credit. Feel free to post your suggestions in the comment section.
To help you, here’s a a list of what I’ve tried so far:
47 real food
46 lipstick
42 Let it Be
41 orange
37 chocolate
32 being unplugged part 2
28 no caffeine
26 no chocolate
25 looking for miracles (thanks, Dad)
24 flea hunting
23 okra
22 living alone
20 water
18 no TV
17 engagement (not that kind…)
16 new walking stick tradition
10 pedometer
7 oatmeal
3 New Years Day Christmas cards
1 milk
I look forward to hearing from you.
I would opt for the healing You have so many hours in a day and some much you can give and then your run down and your batteries are drained and then you get ill. Also my journey for the past year has been to reach out to those that helped me through rough times and if I had not thanked them before to do so now even 30 years later. You and your sister have been on an incredible life trip in the last few months. Your love and commitment to the others around your is AMAZING but you need time to heal for all that you are doing for others. My 2nd choice would be to each out to someone that you haven’t heard from in a long time and be ready to sit and play catch up My 3rd choice would be to help those who are self employed mom and pop or cottage industries If you need something support them cause they live and work in your community. Most will back up anything they do with such expertise and won’t rip you off.
GIVE A HUG TO THOSE WHO SEE IN YOUR DAILY DOINGS, COFFEE SHOP, FOOD LION, OR WHEREVER.. THAT PERSON WHO HAS THE LOOK OF MISSING SOMETHING OR SOMEONE IN THE LIFE…. MAY PEACE BE WITH YOU
OUR PRAYERS AND A BIG HUG TO YOU LISA
How about play a new game every day? I’ve been trying to focus on playing and laughing more as a way to reduce stress and enjoy the day a little more. It could be any kind of game – computer game, card game, dog game, reindeer game – it could even be “Words with Friends” with Alec Baldwin!
I love that your blog head is snowing! Wondrous. Because my beloved Christmas crazy kids have moved to Colorado, because one of my other sons has two very small children and cannot make it down to granma’s this year, because another son is focused on his wife’s ailing family, because Terry’s shoulder is so bad he can’t drive the antique fire truck on its Santa run, because my youngest son lives in Seattle and cooks for a living and can’t make it home, because I have tried really hard to figure out what I want Christmas to be outside the usual round of regurgitated peace, spirit, commercial crap, I would like to hear about how other people especially those who don’t have children at home celebrate Christmas and how they make it special.
I have donated tons of time and done my good deed making sure the tree I did for Safeplace (for abused women and kids) was amazing, 250 teddy bears on and under the tree that will make 250 kids happy over the course of the next year. But that didn’t capture the ephemeral nature of the holiday. What is it nd why?
PS that’s rox above, for some odd reason it renamed me. LOL
You are so brave my dear sweet friend! Asking us what you should do…. You are so selfless always. I know you have so much going on right now. Even if you did just get back from a 10 day retreat, I know you! SO, my suggestion is that you experiment with NOT EXPERIMENTING! I thnk we can all live with you taking the next 2 weeks OFF! But,I know you and you won’t do that, so….I want you to record yourself dancing for the next 14 days, to your favorite songs. If pictures are worth a thousand words, a video of you dancing would be a BLOG for sure! Love you….Merry Christmas!
How about experimenting with trying to really live one of the inspirational quotes (which I love) that you post?
Maybe one that lets you be quiet and restful?
