day 1 ~ the Naked Face Project

As of today, I’m joining Caitlin Boyle and Molly Barker in their Naked Face Project.    These women make a HUGE ripple in this river o’ life.  Among many other things, Caitlin is the founder of Operation Beautiful.  And among many other things, Molly is the founder of Girls on the Run.  I invite you to read Caitlin’s and Molly’s motivations in their respective blogs.

My motivation is this ~  I want to pay attention to what I HAVE BEEN paying a lot of attention to re: how I look to others AND how that makes me feel about myself.

And I get to set my own Naked Face Project rules.

So for the next six weeks, I’ll:

(aside from sunscreen/moisturizer and lip balm) wear no “make-up”  (to me, this means foundation, blush, eyeliner, eye shadow and lipstick). You’ll notice I left mascara off the list.  Since, I’ve been crying a lot lately AND because I get to make my own rules :),  I’m leaving that option open;

do nothing beyond basic cleansing/conditioning care of my hair (this shouldn’t be a big deal, since those close to me know I don’t own a brush);

wear deodorant;

do nothing to my nails beyond basic care to my nails;

not shave;

not wear ANYTHING that is not completely comfortable;  and

most important (to me), I will not explain myself.  Beyond my blog, I won’t “excuse” my appearance in any way.

Can’t wait to tell you what I notice and learn.

What do you think?

  1. Sounds like me-only I can Improve me-liking this. But, our anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks and I had thought I might shave and deodorize for that time:)

  2. Yay for the deo! Other than that, I pretty much do their thing almost everyday! Have you asked them about the bra thing? Do we have to wear them just so we can look like Barbie? I was going to say a lot more about this, but then I remembered you do have male readers and I was just giving TMI…

  3. Adena, happy (early) anniversary!

    Mary Lousie, no such thing as TMI here 🙂

    thanks for chiming in, dearz…
