1624 – 1666 in a year of 2012 wOws!

My “word” for 2012 is wOw!           

wOw! is one of those fabulous words that fits positive, negative and neutral situations.  It’s a word we can use when no other will work.   Over this next year of Sundays, I’m going to share some wOw!moments from the previous week.  By December 31, 2012, I’ll have shared 2012 wOw! moments.   

I hope you’ll have spotted (and maybe even shared) close to that, too.

Here’s what made me say wOw! this week:

1624.  witnessing a stunning Sunday sunrise while listening to Van sing Into the Mystic;

1625.  Rev Gary Bauer preaching an awesome sermon about how easy it is for Us to make God and Jesus too small in our own minds;

1626.  a wonderFULL 80th birthday bash for Amanda;

1627.  Celia letting me steal an orange Button Flower :);

1628.  cleaning out the fireplace for the first time of The Season;

1629.  hearing an owl hooting in my backyard;

1630.  the perfect BBQ ribs-ratio – me/2 and Tom/8;

1631.  having long-ag0-made-plans change at the last minute ~ resulting in a completely open day;

1632. whole grain grits with turkey sausage & cheese topped with a poached egg = my new fav breakfast;

1633.  one of those nastyCommon Colds settling-in;

1634.  how a fire (even/especially when it’s not REALLY cold enough) eases the gloom of The Common Cold;

1635.  homemade chicken soup with Saltines;

1636.  technology ~ specifically,  the ability to DVR the presidential debate;

1637.  watching That Debate the next morning ~ feeling a bit more whole;

1638.  talking to my LAST political pollER;

1639.  the fun of exploring a brand new Big Lots;

1640.  the irony of how hard it is to get the info/price sticker off of my new little non-stick pan;

1641. that Le Creuset honors its lifetime warranty gig (my replacement dutch oven arrived in less than two weeks!);

1642.  feeling strong enough to resume morning walks with Blossom;

1643.  making casseroles for my church’s Thanksgiving bake sale;

1644.  an awesome lunch at LKW’s newest restaurant (Lake Time Chillin Grill);

1645.  Dennis Quaid on the Ellenshow;

1646.  getting to hang with Mom for a while;

1647.  OktoberFest at McCarthy Place (the senior independent living place where Mom lives);

1648.  really hearing Mom’s stories as she showed me through her treasure chest;

1649.  Broderick Crawford in All the King’s Men;

1650.  hearing about how much Tom is enjoying the GoodGuys Southeast Nationals;

1651.  that I could put together my new firewood carrier;

1652.  seeing am image of a black bear in a dear friend’s deer stand;

1653.  a lavender twilight sky at LKW;

1654.  a holy conversation with a heartbroken friend;

1655.  the ongoing honor and thrill of follow The Ninja Amy who’s fighting MS;

1656.  remembering, as I was working through a financial issue, that algebra DOES matter;

1657.  the anxiety of late season (and other) hurricanes;

1658.   how much strength it takes to let go;

1659.  the fun of imagining my Shalem friends heading to MD for our annual Gathering;

1660.  a cozy, rainy day of cooking for tomorrow’s church potluck and the Nov 19 church’s bake/casserole sale;

1661.  The.Perfect.Rainy.Day.Meal: homemade tomato basil soup with a grilled cheese sandwich;

1662.  rainy day naps;

1663.  feeling the wind shift my car;

1663.  finding out about the tremendous honor my friend Trish has SO deservedly received;

1664.  how sad it is to witness the powerful impact of negative self-worth;a

1665.  that oh-so-precious way Blossom curls up beside my chair after I’ve discovered that she’s p’d on the carpet;

1666.  how grateful I am that after all of these years, Tom and I still HAVE to tell each other about the big and little parts of our days;

  1. My WOW today was enjoying steel cut oats and mixed berries!!! Thanks so much for sharing the “WOWNESS” of steel cut oats last year!!!!!!!!
