My word for this year is LEARN.
So it just makes sense to use this Year of Sundays to reflect on 52 of my most significant Life Lessons. Some may seem more significant than others, but each one has changed how I live my life in powerful way. I’d love to hear if and how any of these same lessons have surfaced in the classroom of Your Life.
Walking two dogs for a half-mile while using a cane, dodging cars and avoiding three alligators = walking one dog while doing the same for a whole mile.
AND it counts as however many Weight Watcher Activity Points are needed to eat a great country breakfast afterwards.
So there.
When was the last time you foolishly overestimated your strength?
June 2008, car trip through WV to visit 13 quilt shops on a ‘shop hop’ circuit. Instead of packing my week’s worth of travel clothes and toiletries in two small suitcases, I packed them in one big, heavy one. First stop, Matewan, WV, a tiny 19th c. downtown that once was the point of conflict for the Hatfields and McCoys and later UMW organizers and gun thugs hired by Coal companies. Sidewalks are raised by about an 18 inch curb. Standing up on the curb I haul my suitcase (must weigh 20 pounds EMPTY and about 45 pounds full) up over the curb, bringing to the surface for the first time the spinal stenosis that still bothers me today. I enjoyed the rest of the trip . . . but hurt all the way.
Georgia mountains…..early May.
Working in square foot garden in full sun, mid-afternoon, for over an hour. No hat, no water, no brain…
Helping my daughter get settled into her new townhouse…..she and her husband went off to a baby shower in Charlotte a few weekends ago…. and I organized her moving boxes in the new place myself….and cleaned out her old apartment!
