enough

My word for this year is LEARN.

So it just makes sense to use this Year of Sundays to reflect on 52 of my most significant Life Lessons.   Some may seem more significant than others, but each one has changed how I live my life in powerful way.   I’d love to hear if and how any of these same lessons have surfaced in the classroom of Your Life.

Enough is enough.lesson36

This is a lesson that has many applications.

When applied to a child (or someone acting like a child), it can mean,” STOP DOING THAT!”

When applied to some new product on the market, it can mean, “Really? You thought THAT was necessary?” (Think the new iPhone or Burger King’s new French Fry Burger here.)

When applied to relationships, it can mean, “I’m not Taking It any more.” It’s time for a change – NOW.

When applied to self-reflection, it can also mean, “I have everything I need.” I am grateful.

Enough is one of those levels that’s different for each of us, but we know it when we experience it.

How do you know when enough is enough?  And what (of these or other) applications have you experienced?

  1. “Enough”, now there’s a good one! When a situation comes up unannounced and you’re unprepared to make a calm, educated response, your ENOUGH scale is unbalanced. You think that you have it all under control, but then that scale is broken and you’ve missed the opportunity to be cool with it. I am guilty of this more times than I’d care to admit.

  2. I’m thinking of some resentment I’ve been harboring, and the word ENOUGH reminds me to let it go and get on with what’s good in my life. There are plenty of blessings to count instead of irritating myself over one little issue that isn’t going to change. Ah, serenity!
Thank you for your gentle reminders.

  3. Lisa, I needed to find a phrase you said in March and the Dear Lord sent me directly. “I can’t change my past, but I can choose the rest of the story.” Enough! However, I can’t thank you enough for your wise words, encouraging words. Big Hugs from Jackie at Emerald Isle….I will miss the advent Retreat…spending 70th BDay in Hawaii with son and family.

  4. AMEN, Amma!

Pam, love your concept of the Enough Scale. will definitely pay closer attention to mine. wOw!

Susan, hope you’re enjoying Enough Serenity these days.

Jackie, glad the words I need to hear myself are helping you, will miss you in December AND knowing how wonderfully you’ll be celebrating your 70th is enough for me 🙂
