taking attendance ~ week 13

My word for 2016 is ATTEND.attending girl
Although I don’t think attending is a superpower, some days I wish it was. On those days, I think if one more person promises that he or she has the superpower to right all wrongs and save US from THEM, I daydream about sticking a pencil in my (or someoneelse’s) eye. On my better days, however, I choose to acknowledge that while I have no superpowers and am responsible TO the World – I’m not responsible FOR it. I’m responsible FOR my life and how I choose to live it.

To that end, I will attend to what and whom I can. And I’ll remember that I don’t have to attend every argument, drama or political whack-o-doodleness to which I’m invited. Each Sunday (except for the break I took, during Lent), I’ll share something here – an image, a poem, a song or maybe even a story that’s helped me attend to what I can that week.

This has been a rich week.  I had a blast getting Cheap Therapy orders created and mailed a day ahead of schedule.  I had an incredible ‘MS-focussed’ massage.  I counted the gators and way-too-early-arriving Mayflies at LKW.  AND I got to Pay it Forward.  As you may know, my little paper art business offers at least 90% of its profit to various charities.  One of those charities is the Cheap Therapy Pay it Forward Grant.  Since its inception in 2005, this micro-grant has tried to honor individuals and organizations for their willingness to Pay it Forward.

A friend of mine, I’ll call him Bob (because that’s really his name), connected me with Rites of Passage and more important, the woman, Cindy, who founded it.  So Rites of Passage has become the first 2016 recipient of a Cheap Therapy Pay it Forward Grant.

If you’d like some Pay it Forward soulfood,

How’s your week of attending been?
