taking attendance ~ week 25

My word for 2016 is ATTEND.attending girl
Although I don’t think attending is a superpower, some days I wish it was. On those days, I think if one more person promises that he or she has the superpower to right all wrongs and save US from THEM, I daydream about sticking a pencil in my (or someone else’s) eye. On my better days, however, I choose to acknowledge that while I have no superpowers and am responsible TO the World – I’m not responsible FOR it. I’m responsible FOR my life and how I choose to live it.

To that end, I will attend to what and whom I can. And I’ll remember that I don’t have to attend every argument, drama or political whack-o-doodleness to which I’m invited. Each Sunday , I’ll share something here – an image, a poem, a song or maybe even a story that’s helped me attend to what I can that week.

doorFacebook can lead me to some pretty dismal places, sometimes.  There’s so much anger and fear mongering going on.  ThankFULLy, there are also people on Facebook, like my friend Carrie. We became friends long before Facebook.  Carrie is a hope-monger.  The ways Carrie lives into Hope are way too vast to list in one blog post.  One of her vehicles is Facebook.  Every day she posts an image of the Door of the Day.  Along with being a glorious image, it’s a glorious reminder that each day is new.  All I have to to is cross the threshold. She also attends to Hope from her blog, Carrie’s Bench .

The image you see now was one of Carrie’s doors this week.  I bet she has no idea how many people she nudges toward hope with her simple reminders.  So thanks, Carrie – for all those doors and for always Leaving the Light On.
