taking attendance ~ week 43

My word for 2016 is ATTEND.img_1119-1
Although I don’t think attending is a superpower, some days I wish it was. On those days, I think if one more person promises that he or she has the superpower to right all wrongs and save US from THEM, I daydream about sticking a pencil in my (or someone else’s) eye. On my better days, however, I choose to acknowledge that while I have no superpowers and am responsible TO the World – I’m not responsible FOR it. I’m responsible FOR my life and how I choose to live it.
To that end, I will attend to what and whom I can. And I’ll remember that I don’t have to attend every argument, drama or political whack-o-doodleness to which I’m invited. Each Sunday , I’ll share something here – an image, a poem, a song or maybe even a story that’s helped me attend to what I can that week.

Power company workers from all over the country have been working and serving those of us in eastern North Carolina selflessly for weeks.  Jimmy Cheever, who works with Duke Energy as a Distribution Switching System Operator is a high school friend of mine.  He distributes positive energy on Facebook, too. Earlier this week, he shared a collection fo thank you notes, written by the 8th grade Johnston County students of Tricia Meeres. Way to ATTEND, Jimmy, Tricia and all of her students!

thankyou

What kind of attending have you witnessed or experienced lately?

  1. I love your take on attendance! I’ve been attending to my health and my husband’s today after he cut his finger from not attending safety precautions. But I’m not responsible for him. I am responsible to him, though. Thanks for following, “Anything is Possible!”

  2. JoAnna, THANKS and YAY YOU for attending! hope your husband’s finger heals quickly and completely. sending y’all all that is good. yep ~ anything IS possible ❤
