My word for 2018 is focus, which requires paying attention to the moment – the now. So, this year, I’ll be taking note of experiences I may have missed, without focus. Many may seem to be BGO’s ( blinding glimpses of the obvious), but hey, I might have missed them.
Here’s this week of NOWS:
Play-off games are often better than championship games;
My friend Justin’s visit to all of North Carolina’s State Parks last year just ROCKED. You can read about it here http://www.charlotteobserver.com/opinion/op-ed/article191942034.html;
Just because I don’t understand or agree with what someone believes doesn’t mean that person is wrong/stupid/evil;
Sharing stories of faith and hope with others fuels my faith and hope;
Relationships deserve present, ongoing, respectful, and loving attention;
It’s stunning to witness how birds gather in huge flocks just before snow arrives;
Watching (almost 15-year-old) Blossom prance in the snow fills my heart.to.the.rim;
Cardinals appear to be a different shade of red, against snow;
When going though stacks of paper, I found my (English) maternal grandmother’s handwritten recipe for Yorkshire Pudding;
Even though I’ve relied on Clapton, Carlos Santana and Carole King (for decades) to bring me through, the Avett Brothers are movin’ on up;
While stopped behind a van along the LKW canal, I spotted a little girl with her mom. The girl and I locked eyes. I smiled. She smiled, waved and blew me a kiss. I reciprocated, overwhelmed with joy;
Laughing until I shoot liquid out of my nose is uncomfortable. Many times, UNcomfortable is worth it;
Seeing buds on edge of tree limbs in below freezing temperatures gives me hope;
Bearing witness to others’ glimpses of God and sharing mine is beyond sacred; and
Post-vacuumed carpet ridges remind me of my sister’s ever-loving presence on this planet.
On what NOWS were you able to focus this week?
