My word for 2018 is focus, which requires paying attention to the moment – the now. So, this year, I’ll be taking note of experiences I may have missed, without focus. Many may seem to be BGO’s ( blinding glimpses of the obvious), but hey, I might have missed them.
Here’s this week of NOWS:
That Moon;
Play-off games are often better than championship games;
My friend Justin’s visit to all of North Carolina’s State Parks last year just ROCKED. You can read about it here http://www.charlotteobserver.com/opinion/op-ed/article191942034.html;
Just because I don’t understand or agree with what someone believes doesn’t mean that person is wrong/stupid/evil;
Sharing stories of faith and hope with others fuels my faith and hope;
Relationships deserve present, ongoing, respectful, and loving attention;
It’s stunning to witness how birds gather in huge flocks just before snow arrives;
Watching (almost 15-year-old) Blossom prance in the snow fills my heart.to.the.rim;
Cardinals appear to be a different shade of red, against snow;
When going though stacks of paper, I found my (English) maternal grandmother’s handwritten recipe for Yorkshire Pudding;
Even though I’ve relied on Clapton, Carlos Santana and Carole King (for decades) to bring me through, the Avett Brothers are movin’ on up;
While stopped behind a van along the LKW canal, I spotted a little girl with her mom. The girl and I locked eyes. I smiled. She smiled, waved and blew me a kiss. I reciprocated, overwhelmed with joy;
Laughing until I shoot liquid out of my nose is uncomfortable. Many times, UNcomfortable is worth it;
Seeing buds on edge of tree limbs in below freezing temperatures gives me hope;
Bearing witness to others’ glimpses of God and sharing mine is beyond sacred; and
Post-vacuumed carpet ridges remind me of my sister’s ever-loving presence on this planet.
On what NOWS were you able to focus this week?
Mimosas at midnight celebrating New Year with Clem and his friend Rebecca in happiness.
How much difference an inch less height makes in the ease of getting up a step. Thanks Clem!
How fun it is to know I remember how to get ice off a windshield, even if I have to do it with my bare hands. Note to self: get a scraper for the next ice storm.
A blue jay at my water dish, later a cardinal. Bluebirds nesting under my neighbor’s eaves.
Being able to tell I have a fever.
The endless stream of lovely folk tunes and music that make up Hansel and Gretel.
Epiphany feeling like my real fresh start after a sinus infection fades away.

Sorry for duplicate!
I’m still not a fan of snow.
How much I’m “nesting” for my big sister who will soon be my caregiver for 3 weeks.
How loving my little sister & brother-in-law were to me when I stupidly thought I could pull my car out of the snowbank that surrounded my parking space, but couldn’t & got stuck.
How great it is to stay in PJs all day on a snow day.
How much I love my BFFs and how much she inspires me everyday!
THANKS for joining in the FUN of NOWs, Penny and Linda!
