My word for 2018 is focus, which requires paying attention to the moment – the now. So, this year, I’ll be taking note of experiences I may have missed, without focus. Many may seem to be BGO’s ( blinding glimpses of the obvious), but hey, I might have missed them.
Here’s this week of NOWS:
stopping my car so three fawn could (veryyyy slowly) cross the street and check out my car;
witnessing the power of strong women;
experiencing unspoken understanding;
Bloss allowing me to rub her stomach for twenty uninterrupted minutes;
watching a heron watch me;
how holding another human’s hand is healing on so many levels;
watching someone I love enjoy my cooking;
the joy of a book club that actually discusses books;
realizing that after almost 20 years, creating Cheap Therapy is still cheap therapy;
the overwhelming gratitude I felt for my parents, after seeing their new ‘combined headstone’ (Dad’s is on one side and Mom’s on the other. That’s how they roll at the New Bern National Cemetery.);
how cleaning out Mom’s storage unit (with the massive help of family and friends) wasn’t nearly as grievous as I expected; and
understanding that opening all of those boxes may be.
What nows did you experience this week?
I witnessed the incredible and nurturing parenting skills of a young woman I helped to parent. Seeing her with her two year old daughter gave me hope for the future.
I was reminded that Love is demonstrated in mundane and simple tasks such as polishing another’s shoes.
I was energized by spending time talking (about a book) with a group of intelligent and interesting women.
thanks for joining in, Susan! looks like you had a powerful week. way to be in The Now 👍.
i marched on the 20th for the 2nd women’s march and was again reminded of the strength and power that all people(not matter race, color or gender) hold when they fight for what they care about and love with such a passionate that evokes them to stand up for what they believe in.
I watched a friend help a blind man cross a buys intersection, and my love for them grew leaps and bounds
I was reminded what patience can do for a person, and that accepting the pace of life sounds super easy but practices a lot harder
thanks for joining in, Jessica. wOw! marching, witnessing and patience ~ gotta love those NOWS.
thanks, too, to all of you who’ve responded more privately. your NOWS help me focus even better.
