My word for 2018 is focus, which requires paying attention to the moment – the now. So, this year, I’ll be taking note of experiences I may have missed, without focus. Many may seem to be BGO’s (blinding glimpses of the obvious), but hey, I might have missed them.
Here’s this week of NOWS:
that lavender really does ease my tension;
how much I appreciate people who decorate their home for Christmas;
watching a pair of cardinals work together;
that I’m feeling Mom’s absence this year than last;
watching Bloss simply.feel.the.breeze;
Viv’s addiction (spiced pecans from Vivian Howard, recipe here);
how much fun buying a new toilet can be;
Krista Tippett’s interview with Walter Brueggemann;
a perfectly toasted slice of bread;
Bloss, simply.feeling.the.breeze;
that difference between taking time and making time for what and who’s important;
Oprah Winfrey’s interview/podcast with Elie Wiesel about living with an open heart;
the humbling grace of witnessing a faithful servant become an ordained priest; and
that.full.moon over Lake Waccamaw.
What NOWS did you experience or witness this week?
Brueggemann: “you cannot finally silence poets.”
YAY and amen, Jan!
I sat in my car and had my son stop me – Dad don’t get out until I tell you something : “Dad I still don’t know about all this Christian stuff, but I do know I want to live my life like one and live a life that is not all about me. I want a wife and a relationship like yours and moms not like xyz and not like this girl and mine (that he dated briefly.)” That was my now moment and it was awesome !
wOw! John, thanks SO much for sharing that sacred NOW between you amd your son. awesome indeed!
