My word for 2020 is ENOUGH.
It’s such a great word and realization. And it’s so versatile!
- I can use it while standing tall, with clenched fists and lots of exclamation points. “Enough of THAT!!!”
- I can use it when I remember to put Fear in the back seat. So I can get on with Life. “Enough, already.”
- I can use it when no matter how I try, things just don’t turn out as I planned or wanted. So I can allow a glimmer of grace to creep-in and flip my compassion switch ON. “:: deep sigh:: Enough.”
- I can also use it when God/The Universe/and Everything Good presents one of those gobsmacking moments of awe and love. “THIS is enough.”
I try to look for the good in every day, but some days are better than others. Saturday was a very good day.
Here in southeastern North Carolina, the temps were slightly crispy. The sky was clear and bright blue. Some people I love restocked my firewood supply and then we shared our first oyster roast of the season. I spoke with some of the other folk I love, by phone. I even received a gloriously handmade face mask from a beloved. I moved around a little. I read a little. I napped a little. I had a simple and tasty dinner. I watched a little light TV. And I enjoyed my first fire of the season.

Yep, it was a very good day. And sometimes, one of those is enough.
How have you witnessed or experienced enough lately?
