Enough #38

My word for 2020 is ENOUGH.

It’s such a great word and realization. And it’s so versatile!

  • I can use it while standing tall, with clenched fists and lots of exclamation points. “Enough of THAT!!!”
  • I can use it when I remember to put Fear in the back seat. So I can get on with Life. “Enough, already.”
  • I can use it when no matter how I try, things just don’t turn out as I planned or wanted. So I can allow a glimmer of grace to creep-in and flip my compassion switch ON. “:: deep sigh:: Enough.”
  • I can also use it when God/The Universe/and Everything Good presents one of those gobsmacking moments of awe and love. “THIS is enough.”

I don’t think this post is going to be about what you think it’s going to be about.

It’s not about angry birds or any other kind of birds. It’s not about anger. It’s not even about stuffed toys.

It’s about how vital playfulness, whimsy, traditions, and surprises are. I first saw this toy about 12 years ago. I was on an adventure with Tom, when I discovered it carefully tucked away in a side pocket of my backpack. I have no idea where Tom found this toy or when he hid it in my backpack, but hiding it among each other’s gear has become one of our beloved travel traditions.

Surprises are always a part of any adventure Tom and I share, but anticipating when or where this little toy will appear is always a favorite of mine. Whoever finds it on one adventure then hides it among the others’ gear, during our next trip. Most recently, Tom and I explored the hills near Mountain City, TN. It was my turn to do the hiding. I’d tell you where I hid it, but I’m not sure he’s found it yet.😜

Fun games and traditional tricks – they can be enough.

How have you witnessed or experienced enough, lately?

  1. I so love you and Tom. Yesterday, my Gal Pal, Debbie and I Walked a 3.9 mile trail up and down Little Mountain Falls in Fairy Point National Park. This is a very missed named trail. It should be Little Falls on Big Mountain Trail. Boy of Boy, it was more than ENOUGH!

  2. We love you, too, Linda! Y’all’s hike sounds fabulous! Hope your body has forgiven you by now 😜.
