My word for 2021 is shift. Like everyone I know, I’ve learned a lot, since this time last year. One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that change and uncertainty just are. Since I’m not in control of much more than which yoga pants, Zoom-appropriate top, and slippers I’ll wear each day, I needed to figure out how I could deal with all the change and uncertainty. That’s where shifting comes in.
For me, shifts involve acceptance and adjustment. I know I don’t have much control, but I have unlimited choices. I can shift.
Some of my recent shifts have been pretty significant. Some have been tiny. Some haven’t happened, yet. And I’m sure I’ll make a lot of shifts I can’t even imagine
A photographer I am not and definitely not a food photographer, but I hope you can figure out that this is a breakfast meal. Breakfast is my absolute favorite meal. Sadly, I get into a bit of a rut, eating the same few breakfast combos over and over. So, each week, I’m enjoying Shift Saturday. I create something I haven’t ever fixed before each Saturday morning.
I forgot to take Saturday pix earlier this year, but this was yesterday’s breakfast – a black bean/quinoa cake topped with a tiny bit of cheese, avocado, and a perfectly (if I do say so myself😜) poached egg. It might not be your thing, but it was delish to me!
Yep, sometimes, simple shifts are all it takes for me. How about you? Have you experienced any yummy shifts lately?

I have added a breakfast if lix(smoked salmon) on whole grain toast with avocado and a spritz of lemon to my breakfast “rotation”-a nice wake up.
