This blog began as an offshoot of my business Cheap Therapy… handcrafted paper art that celebrates Life. I live in a small coastal town and mail paper art to glorious galleries and shops across the country. It’s a joy to create and mail, but I sure celebrate connecting with people, too.

I just found your website and blog and I’m in awe. I work with a group of 5 young adults with special needs in Tomball, TX. This group of young adults attend no day program and live in their family homes rather than in residential group homes. The group was started just to give them an outing each week, but has evolved into a Crafting Company. We currently are making greeting cards, bookmarks, suncatchers, and a few other things. This has allowed these young people to blossom and realize that they are and can be productive members of a community. I have a son 26 years old with special needs, including kidney failure awaiting transplant. The group is supported by another mother of one of the young adults, myself, and my mom. We have donated all their supplies and continue to look for ways to expand. Thanks for sharing ideals on the web.

Reading was a consisitent way of life when traveling with Ben ;so later after a New Year’s Eve Diagnosis came in 2001; so young at age 57 my daughter-in-law asked if he could hear me with the words from “The Old Man and the Boy.”by Robert Ruark. I answered with I don’t know, but I’m reading anyway.With his love for books;Ben was also a master bridge player and so he told me, “you have to play the hand you’re dealt.” When I didn’t know what to do,David Walker,my Presbyterian Minister told me, I was in unknown territory. My mother had always told me everything has a reason, a time, and a place.
I found it’s in the moments.
