sticky wickets…

My word for this year is LEARN.

So it just makes sense to use this Year of Sundays to reflect on 52 of my most significant Life Lessons.   Some may seem more significant than others, but each one has changed how I live my life in powerful way.   I’d love to hear if and how any of these same lessons have surfaced in the classroom of Your Life.

lesson37Getting stuck is a reality.  Staying stuck is a choice.

Blossom and I have this game where she wraps her tether around cypress knees on the lake shore and then barks until I come untangle her.   She seems to do it when she’s bored, wants my attention or just needs a few extra moments to ponder whatever it is dogs ponder.

Every time I go out to help her, I tell her the same thing, “Remember, you’re not really stuck.  You can untangle yourself whenever you want.”   She always just looks at me as if to say, “Yeah right, but this is easier.”

We play this game a lot.

I play the same game – not with cypress knees, though.

  • Sometimes, I play it when I need to take, but am not quite ready.
  • Sometimes, I play it when I need someone to affirm my choice.
  • Sometimes, I play it when I just want someone to tell me what to do.
  • Sometimes, I don’t even realize I’m playing it – until I realize I’m waiting for someone else to untangle me.  That’s always the clue for me because, like Blossom, I can untangle myself whenever I want.

How do you get yourself UNstuck?
