Pausing, a long, long time ago…

I finally watched this program, which began streaming in July.

For my beloveds who don’t know that both Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney were once in bands, y’all might not be familiar with the song, American Pie. For those who do know, well, you know.

To me, Don McLean’s American Pie is a song about a fatal plane crash, the history of rock and roll, unforgettable artists, world events, nursery rhymes, and personal/national ideologies. And it’s about balancing ever-present grief and hope.

Here are images of the Clear Lake, Iowa, site of the plane crash, where musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, J.P. Richardson (a.k.a The Big Bopper), and pilot, Roger Peterson died.
