one just never knows ~ does one?

I totaled my car earlier this week.

No other cars were invovled.   It was just me, a road I know like the back of my hand, the slightest bit of rain and a deep ditch.

I wasn’t texting, talking, eating, drinking or applying make-up.  It was just a fluke – an accident.  And it could have been so much worse.

Along with being more grateFULL than I can express that I didn’t hurt anyone, I’m stunned by the re-realization that life can turn (and spin) on a dime.

So as I live into the remainder of the Season of Waiting (Advent), I’m going to:

  • ALWAYS wear my seatbelt;
  • ignore my cellphone when I’m in my car;
  • listen even closer to stories people want to share;
  • and focus more on Presence than on presents.

                                                            Hope you will, too.

  1. …and I am going to be grateful -Oh so grateful -for friends that could have been hurt seriously but were not!! Love ya Lisa.

  2. I’m so thankful that you are OK, Lisa! Recently, when I was in the hospital and couldn’t have anything to drink, it sure made me realize how joyful it is to be able to do the simple things that we take for granted!

  3. Ooooohhhh, Lisa….thank the good Lord you’re OK. Great reminder that each and every day is a gift, a blessing, a present – and that we should be present! Sorry, too, about your car, but it’s “nothing but a thang” whereas you, dear one, are priceless!

  4. Lisa-I’m so very grateful to hear you are okay!!!! Ending up in a ditch is not fun (and I really know!). Glad the hand of God and the wings of His angels were there to keep you safe.

  5. You didn’t tell me about the ditch! I want to say something funny like another fine blonde moment or make sure mom’s Bearness knows it wasn’t my fault, but you know the rule. I am so grateFULL you are okay. It’s my best CHRISTMAS gift. Oh, and the next time you want a new car just say something. Love BFFS
