A Shower Curtain of Hope- Maybe?

Almost five years ago, my friend Mary Mac helped me hang this exquisite shower curtain she created for me,

This treasure replaced a much less glorious ribbon curtain I had prior to Hurricane Florence.

It’s hard to know how to help people who are hurting. It’s equally hard to know how to request help. After #thatHOFlo (as some of us liked the refer that that particular hurricane), SO many friends, far and near, wanted to help after my home (along with MANY others), was flooded. One thing I requested from friends, who asked how best to help, was a single ribbon for a new shower curtain. And, after consulting Mary Mac, I shared address with these friends.

She was overwhelmed by the ribbon deliveries. And I was overwhelmed by this collaborative work of Love-in-Action-Art that was the result.

Today, as I was drying-off after showering, I was again overwhelmed, by the love that filled my bathroom. I don’t know who sent each ribbon, but I know each one was shared with love. I return that love ten-fold.

And I was humbly reminded of all the times I’ve felt grief, fear, and hopelessness. There are a lot of weapons and armor to ward off those feelings. In my humble opinion, mightiest is love.

So, if you need a reminder, feel free to look at this picture of hope and love. If you’re local, and not an ax-murderer, I’ll be glad to show it to you in person. Just call first.

And if you sent one of these ribbons and spot it, please let me know. So I can thank you for your love; giving me hope; and this very healing bathroom.
