1194 -1241 in a year of 2012 wOws!

My “word” for 2012 is wOw!           

wOw! is one of those fabulous words that fits positive, negative and neutral situations.  It’s a word we can use when no other will work.   Over this next year of Sundays, I’m going to share some wOw!moments from the previous week.  By December 31, 2012, I’ll have shared 2012 wOw! moments.   

I hope you’ll have spotted (and maybe even shared) close to that, too.

Here’s what made me say wOw! this week:

1194.  how well Tom survived his ’34 Chevy Streetrod getting wet for the first time;

1195.  having ‘free’ Cinemax for the weekend and not finding ANYthing i wanted to watch on it;

1196.  how aMaZing my home smells as fresh pears (with JUST ENOUGH ginger) simmer in the crockpot;

1197.  the fun of watching folk train for Take the Lake;

1198.  that HUGE trophy Tom won at the car show;

1199.   homemade pulled pork enchiladas;

1200.  a heartbreaking search and rescue for a missing man In LKW;

1201.  the holiness of not. being able.to.save.people;

1202.  the sacred ritual of prayer;

1203. heartbreaking news;

1204.  that.life.goes.on ~ even(especially) when we’re not sure how;

1205.  the healing power of community;

1206.  the joy of getting ready to hang with Mom  for a few days;

1207.  the fun of taking a healthy walk with Mom around McCarthy Court;

1208.  waiting for Mom as she shopped at TJ Max for two hours;

1209.  geese-watching;

1210.  a dear friend turning  60 ~ i’m SO glad you were born, Robin!;

1211.  Mom and i enjoying a gentle rain with open windows;

1212.  experiencing a day where the temps don’t reach 80;

1213.  Viva Las Vegas night with Mom and so many other octegenarians;

1214.  finding out that more US service people have killed themselves than died on the battlefield in 2012;

1216.  watching So You Think You Can Dance with Mom ~ just because it was Mari’s favorite TV show;

1217.  watching Blossom play with her cousin Tika;

1218. the fine line between compassion and responsibility;

1219.  a dear friend turning 30 ~ i’m SO glad you were born, Jessica!;

1220.  the comfort of Home;

1221.  open windows;

1222.  a cozy, rainy night with a great book and an even greater dog;

1223.  people doing the best they can;

1224.  how peaceful a full day of rain can be;

1225.  the first homemade clam chowder of the year;

1226.  2 million + year old whale remains found in LKW coming home to the Lake Waccamaw State Park (THANKS to Cathy, Priscilla, Alice, Deborah and so many more…);

1227.  news of the passing of Martha Blake, a woman who changed thousands of young Havelock lives for the better;

1228.  falling asleep on the couch while watching a Johnny Depp movie~ hey, it could be worse;) ;

1229.  yet another open-windows night in August;

1230.   Take the Lake Xers;

1231. seeing people experience LKW for the first time;

1232.  curried pears (the making and the eating);

1233.  one.of.those.perfect. healing.Saturdays;

1234.  Tom (and his cool car) winning Best in Show!;

1235. Mother Nature cooperating with Take the Lake X;

1236.  a completely TV-free day;

1237.  finishing Molly Ringwold’s very good novel, When it Happens to You;

1238.  how hard it often is to decide which book to read next;

1239.  RIP Neil Armstrong;

1240.  the JOY and honor of being present to surprise a wonderFULL

woman;

1241.  that overwhelming feeling of gratitude;
